Medical Internship and rotations (Praktisches Jahr, "PJ")

The Department of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes offers training and internships for medical students who are proficient in German all year round. Students may also complete their elective rotation of their final year (PJ) with us.

During you internship period, medical students will be trained in:

Training overview

  • Supervised care of young patients from admission to discharge including the preparation of doctor's letters, assessment of their physical status and history as well as diagnostic and therapeutic concepts
  • patient-centered communication during ward rounds
  • placement of peripheral venous lines in children and adolescents
  • Participation in interdisciplinary meetings and discussion rounds and education offers of other paediatric departments at Charité

In addition, training sessions for final year students are offered on a weekly basis:
