Department of Pediatrics, Division of Endocrinology and Diabetology

The Department of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes is associated to the CharitéCentrum (CC17) for Gynecology, Perinatal, Paediatric and Juvenile Medicine with Perinatal Center and Human Genetics and is part of the Otto Heubner Centrum for Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
The department offers comprehensive diagnostic and treatment options for all endocrine diseases and all types of diabetes in childhood and adolescence. This includes both outpatient and inpatient treatments.

- Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care Units
- Gastroenterology
- Immunology
- Paediatric Surgery

- Adult Diabetes Care and Endocrinology (Charité Diabetes Center)
- Radiology / Neuroradiology / Nuclear Medicine
Children and adolescents with diagnosed or suspected hormone disorders are being examined, tested and treated in the wards and ambulatory care center of the department.
The department also offers continuous and interdisciplinary care to children with chronic illnesses in close cooperation with the Social Paediatric Center (SPZ).
The care team coordinates outpatient or inpatient procedures with local Paediatricians and families.
In addition to clinical care, the employees are involved in
- clinical and translational research,
- basic research and
- mentoring and training of students.
Interns and guests from other healthcare professions are welcome to join us at the diabetes care center for children and adolescents as well. The department’s team sees this as an active contribution to fostering and disseminating medical knowledge and promoting education and training.
